Thriving, Not Just Surviving
Living with Meniere's disease and vestibular migraines
one of the medical conditions I deal with is and recently had a flare-up of. Living with Meniere's disease and vestibular migraines can be incredibly challenging for those affected by these conditions. Meniere's disease is a disorder of the inner ear that leads to vertigo, hearing loss, tinnitus, and a feeling of fullness in the ear. The unpredictable nature of vertigo attacks can be debilitating, leaving people feeling disoriented and anxious about when the next episode may strike. On the other hand, vestibular migraines are a type of migraine that also involves vertigo and dizziness, with severe headaches. The combination of these symptoms can impact a person's quality of life, making daily activities such as work, socializing, and even simple tasks like walking feel overwhelming. Those living with Meniere's disease and vestibular migraines often face challenges in finding effective treatments and managing their symptoms, leading to feelings of frustration and isolation. It's crucial to approach people dealing with these conditions with compassion and understanding, acknowledging the physical and emotional toll they may be experiencing on a daily basis.
These past few days have been quite challenging, leaving me drained of energy, fatigued, and feeling as if I were on a dam boat. The vertigo was intense, my right side of face was in agony, and the migraine hit a level of 10 or more, with severe pressure in my ear. However, I managed to visit the beach today, which helped me find some grounding. I enjoyed my favorite iced coffee and had a lovely yoga session accompanied by the soothing sounds of the waves. I even treated myself to a Buddha bowl, so I consider that a win!
Every small win counts when you're managing chronic conditions, and today was full of them. Amidst the challenges, I found moments of peace and happiness that reminded me of the importance of embracing life, even on the tough days. The beach, with its calming presence, provided a much-needed respite from the storm in my body. It’s incredible how nature can be such a grounding force, offering tranquility and healing with its beauty.
The iced coffee, a simple pleasure, brought a sense of normalcy and comfort, while the yoga session allowed me to reconnect with my body, finding strength and flexibility even amidst discomfort. And the Buddha bowl was not just nourishment for the body but a celebration of treating myself with care and kindness.
They remind me that thriving is possible,I am reminded of my own strength and the beauty of living fully, with intention and gratitude. Here's to finding light in the midst of darkness and to celebrating each moment of thriving along the way.
