Chronic illness and Weather
Grounding and reflection by the beach, end the evening with a Kirtan meditation fostering meaningful connections and welcoming new experiences. Its wonderful reminder of the strength of friendship and the beauty of being in the present moment.
Some people may not realize that weather conditions, such as barometric pressure, heat, and cold, can significantly impact their symptoms, potentially leading to a flare-up. Essentially, a flare occurs when symptoms intensify, causing widespread discomfort, making daily life feel like an absolute nightmare. When the weather shifts, it can feel as though your own body is waging a battle against you. The increased pain and fatigue can make even the simplest tasks seem hard, and it often requires a tremendous amount of patience and self-care to navigate these challenging periods. It's important to listen to your body and make adjustments as needed, whether that means resting more, staying hydrated, or finding ways to stay cool or warm depending on the climate.
For those dealing with chronic conditions, it's crucial to have strategies in place to manage these flare-ups. This might include preparing a comfortable space to rest, having soothing activities on hand to help take your mind off the discomfort, or utilizing tools and devices designed to alleviate symptoms. It's also beneficial to communicate with your closest about what you're experiencing, so they can offer support and understanding during these tough times.
My flare started few days ago it's messing me with and here in New Zealand, it’s summer, and the heat is intense. The lack of sleep has taken its toll, leaving me feeling completely exhausted. To be honest, the pain levels are high, and to top it off, Glitch has chosen to contribute to the chaos.
My go to things on days like this
Stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water
Allow yourself time to rest and practice self-compassion
Accomplish one task for the day, whether it's taking a shower or enjoying breakfast—just one thing
Connect with those who understand you; have a chat, share a meal, and enjoy some laughter together
Spend time outdoors, no matter how you feel; take a few minutes to breathe in fresh air and soak up some sunlight
Cultivate a sense of gratitude
Remember, you're not alone in this journey. By sharing experiences and coping strategies, we can support each other in finding ways to make life a little easier, even when the weather isn't on our side. Take each day as it comes, and know that brighter days are ahead. Done
